Other bands who played: Frowny Face Empire, No One and the Somebodies, The Banned, How They Light Cigarettes in Prison, As Long As We're All Living We're All Dying.
Emily was supposed to stop the song midway and tackle Noah and bite him and then roll off the stage with him. But she wussed out and just did the song straight. And it's beautiful.

September, 25, 2003, Kenmore Subway station, Boston, Massachusetts
Alex Billig: guitar
Noah Britton: vocals
Jessica Hickey: photos
This took place right near the field where the Red Sox play, right after a game. So, the entire subway was packed with assholes. The Best Thing Ever does not own a battery pack, so no amplification was available. Noah yelled and Alex played Noah's acoustic guitar so hard that he broke TWO strings. Then, during the third song, a subway employee explained that the show must be to the bottom of the steps OUTSIDE the subway, on the opposite side of the street from the Red Sox game. One could still hear the Red Sox fans yelling "LET'S GO RED SOX!" despite being on the other side of the street. The Best Thing Ever made $.52 in the hour that they played. Also, some kid put a flyer for his band's next show in the guitar case, in lieu of giving any money.

The last track is about 25 minutes of Jen singing all of the musical, Cats, while Noah and Alex improvise random shit in the background. It samples "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed, "All Around the World" by ATC, and "Bye Bye Bye" by 'N Sync, all in their entirety.

1. What I want

Other Music
15 East 4th Street
The band asked all of their friends to be in the store browsing before they arrived, so they would be able to ask the customers if they should keep playing, and then their friends would stick up for them. They didn't, though.
"Wesley Willis Song" was sung out of tune (so as to be audible over the guitar), so some guy in the back of the store kept yelling "boo!" but no one made the band stop. Jen successfully convinced them to turn the music off before the show. Afterwards, one of the employees said many bands had set up outside during CMJ, but no one had ever played in the store without being scheduled.

The Retirement Tour

The three members of The Best Thing Ever reunite (for the last time?) for a week-long tour of retirement-related venues in New York. They claimed that every show was sponsored by "Bob's Website" and usually sang the theme song (which they'd written) during shows. They also wore "BOB'S WEBSITE PRESENTS The Best Thing Ever" shirts with the URL on the back. Noah also wrote the url on his guitar which stained permanently.
